Of lemons and bacteria

Lemon slices place in cola drink or pop water were found to be carrying a wide range of bacteria that can make you sick. A New Jersey microbiologist initiated the study after she saw a waitress with dirty fingernails serving a drink to a table. She conducted a study of lemons being served in 21 restaurants. The drinks were swabbed with high levels of bacteria from high counts of fecal bacteria to a dozen other microorganisms found on the rind and flesh of the lemons. The common practice of waiters and waitresses to simply pop the little lemon wedge on the glass with bare unwashed hands contaminated the lemon with bacteria. Another possibility is that the lemons itself were not washed before using.

These bacteria can make us sick and I guess transmission of said bacteria is very evident here. To keep us safe, please tell the waiter or waitress not to place lemons in your drink. Or if that will affect lifestyle, maybe we can tell government health inspectors to include lemons in their inspection routine. That should solve the problem of transmission.

Stroke and daytime dozing

Middle aged women and obesity

Middle aged women ages 35 to 54 were reported to be suffering from stroke. This is most alarming because statistics have tripled in recent years. It is still happening amidst their being conscious and cautious in taking medicines for their cholesterol and blood pressure. Obesity is the main factor. The reality of bulges and having waistlines nearly two inches bigger increases risk for having a stroke. Women's mass index increases too. Belly fat stood out. Obesity sets the stage for all the other risk factors to come in. In-hospital deaths were about 6% for those who arrived with strokes caused by a blood clot. It would be wise to face up our problems on weight and try to redefine lifestyle. Guess life is getting shorter nowadays.

Stress and its impact on cancer virus fights

US researchers said that women experiencing much stress develop a weaker immune response to the HPV virus. HPV is a sexually transmitted infection that has progress to cancer on some women who had it. While many women appear to be able to clear the virus from their bodies, others developed a persistent infection that creates an abnormal cell changes which has every possibility to lead to cancer. In some women, their immune system was not able to clear the virus. It was found that the immune system was poorer to women who reported higher levels of day to day stress. Women with high level of stress are more likely to develop an impaired immune response to diseases.

cancer risk on heavy red meat and sugar diet

Older Chinese women found to be eating on heavy red meat and sugar had more breast cancer. This was the result of a study made on older Asian women placed on two separate diets. Western diet heavy on meat, starch and sugar may increase your risk for cancer. Adapting Western diet increases intake of saturated fats. Cut down meat consumption especially red meat. A healthy diet shall include fruits, vegetables and whole grain. It would be nice to start looking for vegies menu that is easy to cook and understand.

Suicide and how to beat it

Many teens are going through hard times. They feel they can't cope up with their problems anymore they go forward to killing themselves. When experiencing despair, stress or frustrations people don't pray anymore. They tend or most often automatically rely on their selves to solve the problem. Let me tell you guys there are some things that are heaven sent and there are some people that are heaven sent. We just have to stop comparing and feeling better over the other and we can go live an accept them as they come, as they are to your lives.

When you have a problem, the first you ought to do is listen to your heart. Don't crack your brain thinking about what to do. Listen to your heart and try to meditate for awhile. Close your eyes and let your mind and body relax. Do this every morning and every night. You don't have to really do the yoga position just do it in your mind and your body. The state is more important than your position. Focus on the air the smell of the air and breathe. Just breath deeply, inhale and exhale. That's it practice the breathing then do the rhythm.

Rhythm means having word or phrases that will sound monotonously. For my case, I do the tongues. The gift of tongues is a practice with Catholics who are attending charismatic sessions. I am aware that other religions have this too. Whatever is similar you practice. Then your arms will begin to move as the Holy Spirit does His work on you. I think you will understand this more if you go to charismatic session and observe how they use their tongues. Sessions and seminars on how to free the gift are being provided by the community. If you are interested you can attend and try to ask for the gift of tongues.

Meditation then praying in tongues is very effective for the health. It energizes the body, refreshes the mind and elevates the soul. How do you make it happen? Try making conversations with God. managing depression and unhappiness in midlife

Depression and unhappiness is a very common thing in midlife. It most often stemmed from failed expectations and failed goals. I have seen a video this morning showing an interview titled "The middle age slump". It was good, it helps a lot. So I thought I have to share this with you. How do you fight unhappiness? For me you don't have to fight unhappiness. Loneliness is a very natural thing say  a part of life. You don't have to fight it you just have to find out how to get on to that road back to life again. Loneliness and pain is good for the soul. It helps one to learn from his mistakes, makes him more cautious and mature in facing life. Mistakes makes us more thorough in our next action plans because we learned a lot from it. But then they put it as fighting unhappiness, so be it, let's use both words.

A proven method that will enable you to manage your loneliness and depression is to reach out to a group of people who are experiencing the same situation or to a group of people who can relate to your situation. This is very important. Choose the person you are going to communicate in the first few stages until you are emotionally well again. Why? Some people may not be sensitive with your needs and they could hurt you more. One or two conversations at a time may help to resurface the pain, to talk it out and put it in your scrapbook of memory lane. You cannot move on if you cannot get over it believe me. It will continue to hound you. Isolation may be good for a short time but prolonging may not do you good unless you are aspiring to be a monk or something. But isolation does more good to the soul if you take the opportunity to pray, meditate and find yourself again.

We stumble once or twice in life or maybe always. It does not mean we are wothless. We just didn't find where to fit ourselves first. Find what you like doing, discover your talent, enhance your skills and know your potentials. God haven't given us life to be worth nothing. Everything has something to offer in this world. Remember that we were made to complement each other so know what that other person don't have that you can offer and maybe find the work you like to do. I am not talking of relationships, you have to find work first. Finances are a good cause of depression so make an effort to answer that one need first before you go creating relationships and date again. What I want to tell you is that you have to be emotionally well balance before anything else. Take one step at a time.

Engage in self care. That is true we only have ourselves to help ourselves. You got it? The only ones that can help us heal ourselves is ourselves. Get your self confidence back so you may move back to the real world. How to feel good about yourself? Learn to forgive yourself and others. Accept that you have your own limitations and that other people have the same limitations too. And if you don't established a meaningful relationship with them, you don't have to crack your head thinking how to have one. Let it go and let it flow. Some things are just not meant to be and it will make you more comfortable and happy if you distant yourself with this guy first while you are recreating your world and your goals. Stay away as much as possible with negative influence and negative feelings. You don't need much emotional setbacks now. You are already a work in progress by yourself.

It will be healthy to straighten out interpersonal relationships. But if you see you are not ready or the other person is not ready then again don't force issues. Go ahead and make a life you will be happy to live on forever. Renew your passion for life. Be still and try to get to know yourself more and exercise increase of self esteem. So at this point you don't need stronger personalities yet. Try to avoid it yet or you may find yourself doing favors for the stronger one. Good nutrition boost brain health and exercise makes you feel good. How about a jog or an early morning walk? Try it. Feel the air and the morning smell of the world before it gets all the fumes from the cars. It is a good way to start breathing exercises, makes you feel good too. You own your own life. Find what's meaningful and give back to people who are experiencing the same to outlive negative emotions.
